Excess Catamarans has appointed Aquahub as its new exclusive dealer in Hong Kong, succeeding NextWave Yachting. Based in Kwun Tong, Aquahub is headed by company founder Todd Barr and long-time business partner Amani Wong, and has recently been expanding its new yachts portfolio.

Cosmas Grelon, Asia-Pacific Sales Manager for Excess and Lagoon, said: “It’s with great pleasure that we officially announce AquaHub as the new exclusive Excess partner and dealership in Hong Kong. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to NextWave for their efforts in establishing Excess in Hong Kong during the brand’s early development. Thanks to the solid foundation they have built, I’m confident AquaHub is perfectly positioned to bring Excess to new heights.”

Grelon was also full of praise for the Aquahub management team, which also represents sailing monohull and motorboat brands.

“Todd and Amani bring an energy and passion that align seamlessly with the spirit of Excess – young at heart, enthusiastic sailors and deeply committed to delivering exceptional service to their customers,” Grelon said.

“They are widely recognised as the best in Hong Kong for catamaran servicing, and their facilities in Kwun Tong will provide a true onestop solution for all Excess owners. I’m very much looking forward to this new collaboration and am genuinely excited about the future of Excess in Hong Kong.”

Barr, who moved from Australia to Hong Kong in 2000, was also excited about the new partnership. “We like Excess as it stands out for its sporty character and modern design. It combines performanceoriented sailing with smart, liveable spaces, making it ideal for owners who want both freedom under sail and comfort on board,” said the former airline pilot.

“We believe Hong Kong and the Asia region is ready for a more performancedriven, modern approach to multihull sailing, one that combines genuine sailing sensations with everyday comfort.”

Excess was founded by Groupe Beneteau in 2019, initially starting its fleet with the former 12 and 15 models. Of the current fleet, the company has delivered more than 200 units of the Excess 11, over 100 of the Excess 14 and almost 50 of the Excess 13, which had its world premiere at last year’s International Multihull Show in France.

The Excess 13 is scheduled to make its Asia-Pacific premiere at this year’s Singapore Yachting Festival from April 23-26, exhibited by Singapore dealer Pro Sail Asia in partnership with Thailand dealer Primus Marine.
