The Xplorer 80 is a new addition to Damen Yachting’s newly branded series of luxury expedition yachts.
Damen Yachting has announced the Xplorer 80, a new 80m design that joins its range of luxury expedition yachts formerly known as SeaXplorer and which includes the Xplorer 60 and Xplorer 105. The Xplorer 80 has an overall length of 80m, beam of 14.25m, volume of 2,900GT, accommodation for 12 guests and 26 crew plus captain, and autonomy at sea up to 40 days.
Rose Damen, Managing Director of Damen Yachting, said: “By introducing the Xplorer 80, we have further established our ability to create a perfect crossover superyacht. She combines luxury, expedition, capability, high-spec shipbuilding and everything in-between.”
Damen Yachting has again partnered with Dutch studio Azure Yacht Design & Naval Architecture to further develop the exterior lines of the Xplorer 80, a follow-up to the SeaXplorer 77.
While the original SeaXplorer exterior DNA is still recognisable through the inclusion of features such as the signature bow, observation lounge, enclosed wheelhouse and crow’s nest, the more modernised, refined styling “brings an elegant and luxurious look to this very capable and robust yacht”, according to Damen Yachting.
For the interior design concepts, Damen Yachting has partnered with Harrison Eidsgaard to create “a home made for long-term and luxurious living”, with the London-based studio developing “a Manhattan loft-inspired space that encompasses how you like to explore and experience your passions”.
Ben Harrison, co-founder of Harrison Eidsgaard, said: “This interior can cover every journey and any lifestyle – all you need to do is immerse yourself.”
Building on Damen Yachting’s expertise in the field of spec builds and proven technical platforms, the Xplorer 80 offers configuration options to suit any yachting lifestyle.
Enrique Tintore, Xplorer Design Manager, said: “The way the Xplorer has been designed allows for a high level of flexibility to suit any extreme environment or refined landscape. If a helicopter isn’t essential for you, we’ve got many other options for that space. Need a conference room or a seventh guest cabin? Or a separate gym and a high-spec laboratory? We can make that happen.”
Among the configuration options on offer, owners can opt, for example, between a hidden heli hangar and refuelling facilities, a gym and wellness setup, a twin-tender garage setup, a fully-equipped dive centre, or a wall-to-wall lounge club.
Based around the same technical platform, Damen Yachting can also propose alternative exterior designs by Espen Øino, Harrison Eidsgaard and Azure Yacht Design, as well as alternative interior concepts by Winch Design and Reymond Langton.
