Offering 180 berths, Bali Gapura Marina is set to become Indonesia’s first international-standard marina.
Marina Development Indonesia (MDI) and PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) have announced that Bali Gapura Marina – Gapura means ‘gateway’ in Balinese – is the name of their new marina development in the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub.
Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, Indonesia’s Minister of Tourism, said: “The name reflects how every yacht and boat is welcomed at Bali Gapura Marina, crossing from water to land as part of a cultural journey. It also reinforces Indonesia’s commitment to placing maritime journeys at the core of National Strategic Projects, uniting cultural heritage with forward-looking economic priorities.”
Following its ground breaking on May 22, 2025, Bali Gapura Marina is still under construction and is scheduled to offer 180 berths including superyacht capacity by the third quarter of 2026.
Dock B already has 11 concrete pontoons in position, pontoons for Docks A and C are in production, while Dock D is being developed as a floating breakwater. Dock B, which will offer 48 berths, is being equipped with pedestal electricity and water systems from Plus Marine.
Dock B’s pilot commercial opening is scheduled for the first week of December 2025, when boats will be able to berth and access facilities such as water, electricity and provisioning services. A dedicated Welcome Station will also be available to handle QICP (Quarantine, Immigration, Customs and Port) formalities.
Ulf Backlund, MDI’s President Director, said: “Dock B’s completion is more than an operational milestone. It represents a new era for Indonesia. The pilot opening paves the way for the next phases: complete technical service facilities by mid-2026, expansion to 180 berths including superyacht capacity by Q3 2026, and the development of a waterfront commercial and lifestyle hub by 2028.”
