The Magellano 27M represents Azimut’s first collaboration with Finnish designer Jarkko Jämsén, and Michele De Lucchi’s first yachting project.

Azimut’s first yacht to feature exteriors by Jarkko Jämsén and his Navia Design studio, the Magellano 27M was one of the Italian shipyard’s four world premieres at the 2026 Cannes Yachting Festival. 

Featuring an overall length of 26.2m (85ft 11in) and a beam of 6.85m (22ft 6in), the Magellano 27M also marks a first yachting project for Michele De Lucchi and his AMDL Circle studio, who have collaborated with Azimut on many on-land projects including installations and the shipyard’s new headquarters in Avigliana.

The 27M marks a notable design departure from the Magellano 25M and 30M, which feature exteriors by American Ken Freivokh and interiors by Italian architect Vincenzo De Cotiis, and debuted in 2020 and 2022 respectively.

The Magellano 27M marks the third chapter of Azimut’s ‘crossover’ series, which was envisioned by Paolo and Giovanna Vitelli, and debuted in 2009 with the Magellano 74. The series is characterised by high volumes, long range and timeless lines that typically include a vertical bow.

Jämsén, renowned for his work on models ranging from Axopar adventure boats to superyachts, has built on the series’ DNA with what Azimut describes as a “bold sculptural force”. The 27M also retains wooden louvers at the stern, a signature aesthetic element of the Magellano Series.

De Lucchi and AMDL Circle, led by Managing Director Davide Angeli, focus on wood in the interiors, with light oak and walnut details used in the saloon and main-deck owner’s suite. 

The saloon is designed around the concept of a loggia, where sliding doors on the starboard side and a flybridge overhang offer a covered balcony connecting the indoors and outdoors. On hull one, the saloon features two lounging areas and no formal dining table.

Like previous Magellano models, the 27M features a Dual Mode hull, developed by the Azimut|Benetti Group R&D Department in collaboration with Pierluigi Ausonio Naval Architecture (PLANA). 

The double-chine hull combines the strengths of displacement and planing designs, so providing superior comfort across a wide range of sea conditions and speeds, while also reducing fuel consumption and softening wave impact. The vertical bow increases the waterline length and facilitates a smoother entry into the waves

Carbon-fibre is used in about 30 per cent of the yacht’s surfaces, reducing weight. Fitted with twin 1,650hp MAN V12 engines, the Magellano 27M cruises efficiently at 16-18 knots, while retaining the capability to exceed 24 knots when needed. The yacht has a range of about 1,000nm at 12 knots.

Azimut Silent Technology addresses noise, vibration and emissions with technical solutions, including elastic engine and generator mountings, dedicated silencers and particulate filters. 

An optional Zero Emission Hotel Mode, powered by LFP (lithium-iron-phosphate) batteries, allows guests to spend part of the day, or even an entire night at anchor, without running the generators, so eliminating noise, vibration and emissions.
